Cherokee County Republican Party Condemns the Illegitimate Indictment of President Donald J. Trump and the 18 Co-Defendants in Fulton County, Georgia

The foundation of any healthy republic is the right to dissent from any public action, as well as to petition the government for redress of grievances. The Cherokee County Republican Party stands with former President Donald Trump and his 18 Co-Defendants who have been unjustly indicted by Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis in what is undeniably the grossest abuse of power and political persecution in the history of our Republic.

Recent prosecutions of President Donald J. Trump along with his attorneys, as well as GOP activists, federal officers, and contingent electors in Georgia are deeply concerning and violate these bedrock rights. These actions are politically motivated and threaten our foundational principles and silence the voices of those participating in the electoral process. Targeting individuals for their political beliefs or affiliations not only infringes on their First Amendment rights but weakens the very fabric of our constitutional republic. President Trump did nothing more than petition a court to review a grievance; his legal counsel did nothing more than advocate on behalf of their client; the contingent electors did nothing more than cast their votes to preserve the President’s remedy at law. Still, Fani Willis sees fit to persecute her political adversaries.

It's imperative that all Republicans stand united against any attempt to suppress political voices.

The Cherokee County Republican Party commends and supports State Senator Colton Moore and our very own Representative Charlice Byrd's efforts to call the Georgia legislature into session to address these dire issues. Additionally, we support the utilization of the Georgia Prosecuting Attorneys Qualifications Commission to hold Fulton County DA Fani Willis accountable for gross abuse of her office, taxpayer funds, and violating her oath. The Cherokee County Republican Party urges every American, and all politicians, irrespective of party affiliation, to uphold the principles of our great nation and ensure that justice, transparency, the integrity of our elections, and constitutional rights remain at the forefront of all actions.
